How do you choose a sun hat?

When it comes to choosing a sun hat, you want to be sure you get one that aligns with your planned use, fits your head properly, matches your personal style, and provides excellent sun protection. These are all crucial factors because a sun hat is only useful if it actually gets worn. So fit, style, sun protection, and use all carry equal weight, in our opinion. Browse through our diverse selection of sun hats and click on the ones that catch your eye, then read through their detailed descriptions and specs–and don’t forget to check the sizing chart. No matter where you land, when you buy one of our sun hats, rain hats, or wide brim hats, you’ll have excellent protection from the elements.

Are there different types of sun hats?

We offer a wide variety of unique sun protective hats for you and your family to choose from. Our sun hat silhouettes include neck caped hats, wide brims hats, bucket hats, outback hats, fedora hats, caps, and more. The wider the brim the better the protection.

How do sun hats protect you from the sun?

At Sunday Afternoons, we go above and beyond to ensure that our sun hats protect you from the sun. Every sun hat we make provides a UPF (ultraviolet protection factor) rating of 50+, the highest rating achievable. UPF 50+ fabric blocks 98% or more of the sun’s UV rays from penetrating fabric. Using this fabric we design and build a variety of wide brimmed hat styles that shade your head, face, and neck. The wider and/or more downsloped your sun hat brim is, the more sun protection it will provide.

How do you wear a sun hat?

The product page for each of our sun hats includes  “Care and Content” and “Features and Specs” tabs that you can click on to find more information about the hat you choose. These tabs will help you figure out how to properly wear your sun hat, how to clean it and care for it, and how to pack it away, if necessary. Information on materials, size, and other specs is also included.
